My family is probably my greatest source of inspiration and passion. I mention this first because I would not be on the path I am on today without them. I grew up in a tiny town in New Jersey called Lincroft. I did grow up right around the time video game consoles were really taking off, but I didn't get one until much later in my life, around 2009. So, no, I didn't grow up surrounded by video games and I actually think that was for the best. When New Jersey is mentioned, some unsavory terms may spring to mind, but I actually grew up, instead, surrounded by an acre or two of woodland, and that's where my imagination really flourished. Video games are a fantastic source of inspiration, beauty, and passion, but I don't believe that there's anything quite like trees, dirt, and grass to nourish one's imagination. While I was in Lincroft, I did play some games. My first games were Civilization II and Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness. Warcraft, combined with my woodsy lifestyle encouraged my affinity towards fantasy. I also watched my older brother play Warhammer: Shadow of the Horned Rat since I, of course, was too young to play myself.
After spending my younger years in New Jersey, I moved to Miami, where I met some of the best people I'll ever meet. Where New Jersey molded me, my friends and the other people of Miami refined me. I owe these friends a debt I may never be able to repay. It was
in Miami that I got my first console, an Xbox360 and I played...well, probably too much, Call of Duty 4 with my friends. Soon other games entered my library: Dragon Age: Origins, Mass Effect 2, Fable, and Fable II. Surprisingly, The Legend of Zelda wasn't in my list. Of course Zelda is a Nintendo product, not a Microsoft product. It wasn't through any sort of fan boy obsession with Microsoft, but merely a lack of engagement with any other type of console. My friends played Xbo360, why play anything else?
That's where I started, and now I think I'm even more of a fantasy geek. I collect swords of all kinds, read tons of lengthy fantasy books, play as many role playing games as I can get my hands on, and I play D&D, which, in hindsight, I wish had been a part of my childhood. My loving girlfriend, Autumn, has been an essential guiding hand in my life and even now, plays an enormous role in WITB, our company. We inspire each other constantly and our teamwork has made this possible.
Both Autumn and myself went to college for an education in Video Games, and through no lack of effort on our part, we were both unable to get jobs in the industry out of college. We havn't given up on that dream though. Both of us got jobs in other industries in order to make a living, and the rest of our free time goes to our game, Harmony of Dawn, and our company, WITB. We hope that, one day soon, we might be able to focus entirely on what we love doing, making video games, and we hope that KickStarter can get us on our way to doing exactly that.
